Hidden between hills and located on the eastern end of the Santa Monica mountains is Franklin Canyon Park, which is covered in miles of lush vegetation due to the recent rainfall. I have lived in Los Angeles for almost 7 years now, and I can’t believe this was my first time hiking on such a beautiful trail. The road here was a bit winding, but not too difficult despite some slight traffic. I would recommend this trail to anyone who is looking for an easy low-key workout since it’s not as difficult or long as Runyon Canyon. The best part is that you will feel like you are escaping LA since the trail is dense with bush and grass. There was not a lot of people when I went around noon so you will definitely get a different vibe trotting here than Runyon Canyon or Griffith Park. At the bottom of the trail is a gorgeous lake that is also home to several ducks and swans. I suggest coming here towards the evening so you can catch a glimpse of the sunset casting over the City of Angels and shimmers of golden light above the lake.
